Baker Middle made local history becoming the first team from Oakland county to qualify to participate in the Science Olympiad National Tournament with a second place finish at the State Tournament. They traveled to Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio to compete against the top 59 teams in the country. Many of the teams had qualified in previous years and were well practiced at national-level competition.

After a long day of events-tests, labs and testing, they awaited the results. They finished in the top 6 in 4 different events. In the Invasive Species event they finished in 3rd place!  Before the top teams were announced they presented special accolades.

The first accolade went to Parvath Police, head coach. Science Olympiad awarded him the Lockheed Martin Coaching Excellence Award.  Baker’s Team won the second middle school award also-the DuPont Team Enterprise Award for being the highest placing new team to national competition.
