The last time the Troy Colts boys basketball team were in a regional final was 2004.
That all changed Monday night as they beat St. Clair Shores Lake Shore 65-42 at the Athens High gym during an MHSAA regional semifinal matchup. The team led from the very beginning. “After halftime we just wanted to come out with the same energy we did in the first half,” said Coach Gary Fralick after the game.
The lead narrowed considerably in the second half after a technical foul. But after that, they went on a 31-4 run. “After the technical we came down and hit a couple threes.”
“You know what, we shot the ball extremely well. We ran the floor much better than we have been. And we spotted up and hit a lot of threes today,” Fralick continued.
“This is a good team we played tonight. They just didn’t shoot the ball very well. They did everything else pretty well though,” Fralick said.
Troy High goes on to play Warren De La Salle Wednesday night at 7:00 pm at Athens in the Regional Finals.
